A friend of mine has quite some chameleons at home. In his living room, he has a huge terrarium. Chameleons can indeed change colors, not because of their surroundings, but mostly because of their mood. Chameleons have very long tongues(sometimes longer than their own body length) which can be extended in a very short time to capture their prey.
